5 Best Photo Spots in Budapest & Photography Tips (PART I)
In my opinionthe best photo spots in Budapest are one of the best photo spots in Europe as this city is one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The architecture is gorgeous with its iconic landmarks like the grand Parliament Building and the majestic Buda Castle, the views along the Danube River are nothing short of magical. Budapest is famous for its stunning bridges that connect the two sides of the city, Buda and Pest, across the Danube River. If you want to make sure you visit the most beautiful sights I will be able to help you! I simply LOVE my job, some days I can’t believe I get to take photos at the best photo spots in Budapest on a daily basis!
Fisherman's Bastion
One of the most breathtaking and most popular spots in Budapest is the Fisherman’s Bastion. I think the photo speaks for itself. I don’t think you will see many locations as beautiful as this one in Europe. It’s like stepping into a fairy tale, with its stunning towers, amazing view of the Danube and the Parliament. It’s the perfect spot for couples looking for romantic photos, for families or solo portraits! It is probably the favorite Budapest instagram spots!
It is definitely my most requested photoshoot locations, I think I start my day here 2-3x every week. A few weeks ago my 5 year old son asked me: “Mommy where are you going to take photos? Are you going to your Castle?” As funny as that was for me, I really think I have the most beautiful office ever!
Photo Tip: ONLY come here in the early morning! I recommend sunrise photoshoot, because the light is amazing, but trust me and do not come here after 8.30 am because there are 100s of people here every day. It is almost impossible to take nice photos here after 9am. Also, I think Fisherman’s Bastion best place to see the sunrise in Budapest.

2. Buda Castle
Buda Castle & Castle Hill is one of my personal favorites. It is one of the most historic and grand backdrops in Budapest, making it a must-visit spot for stunning photos as one of best photo spots in Budapest. I have shot here many couple shoots, but it is one of my favorite for proposals! Less busy then Fisherman’s Bastion but in my opinion it is just as gorgeous.
There are multiple spots here which I really recommend. The first photo shows one of my favorite places, with the gorgeous Basilica at the background. Also there is an indoor garden with a truly beautiful gate. Buda Castle is one of my most requested locations after Fisherman’s Bastion for good reason. If you are looking for a spot that is not as busy, but offers a gorgeous sunrise view, please visit this Budapest instagram spots.
I love this photo, it reminds me of Rome :)
Photo Tip: Even though this beautiful location is less crowded than Fisherman’s Bastion, I also mostly recommend this spot in the early morning. During the day it can get quite crowded. I recommend getting a photographer to take pictures for you, not just because you will have your memories captured, but because you won’t be able to take photos like these with the Parlaiment being visible without proper lenses.
3. Chain Bridge as One of the Best Photo Spots in Budapest
The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is every photographer’s dream! This iconic Budapest landmark is an absolute must for anyone looking to capture the heart of the city.Whether you're capturing the golden hour light or the bridge lit up at night, every angle offers something special. Don’t miss the chance to take shots from the riverbank or walk across the bridge for even more breathtaking views of the city!
Isn’t it simply gorgeous?
The Chain bridge was closed for a few years because of renovation, but now that it is reopened, it is definitely one of the best photo spots in Budapest
This side of the bridge (Buda side) is great for sunrise shots, I mostly recommend it for couples and solo shots, also for families who are willing to start a photoshoot before 8 am :) You will not regret it! As a Budapest photographer I know the city really well and I am very happy to share with you my experience and my favorite spots in Budapest. Also please do not miss the Chain Bridge at night! Simply gorgeous!
Photo Tip: A photoshoot would work here in the morning or at sunset, but even at night with the city lights on this location is gorgeous. If you go to the bridge in the morning take pictures at Clark Adam Square at Buda side, which is a 10 min walk from Fisherman’s Bastion. If you choose to take photos at sunset choose Pest side close to the Four Seasons Hotel.
4. Budapest Opera House
One of my personal favourites is the Opera house. From the grand exterior to the luxurious interior, every part of the building is picture-perfect. Whether you're taking photos of the outside or inside, the Budapest Opera House will leave you amazed and provide amazing shots you won’t want to miss! It is so gorgeous, the architecture is amazing, there are so many cute coffee shops around it. There is the W Hotel right in front of it which is also simply amazing!
Photo Tip: The best time to take photos here is the morning, before the Opera House opens, but I recommend getting there before 8.30 am. Trust me it is worth it. If you are really not a morning person and you don’t mind having people around while you take photos it is also possible to take photos here during the day, but be careful with the harsh sun.
5. Budapest Parliament
The Budapest Parliament is one of the most stunning buildings in the city and an absolute must-see for any photographer. It is one of the best photo spots in Budapest. Whether you’re shooting it at sunset, when the golden light makes it glow, or at night, when it lights up like a fairytale, the Parliament will leave you speechless. Trust me, you can not leave Budapest without a shot of this masterpiece — it’s pure magic from every angle!
Photo Tip: I shoot here a lot, and it is a great location during the whole day. It gets crowded but because of how huge it is, there are always empty spots where it is possible to take amazing photos. As a basic advice, try to choose a time in the morning or closer to sunset, because the sun is the strongest around 12 pm.
As a photographer who works in Budapest all the time, I can tell you this city is full of amazing spots for photoshoots.
